Hakuna Matata Game Farm - Your Stay in Great Brak River

Hakuna Matata Game Farm, near Great Brak River in the Western Cape, has three self-catering chalets: one one-bedroom and two two-bedroom. Each recently renovated chalet has air conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen with a dining table, a private bathroom, and free WiFi. The two-bedroom chalets include a coffee station in the main bedroom and have one separate bedroom, which works well for two couples. Chalets open onto a terrace with outdoor furniture and views over the garden and a lake where zebra, buffalo, impala, and kudu come to drink.

There is no restaurant on site. Each chalet has a barbecue and outdoor dining table, so guests can cook for themselves. A breakfast basket can be ordered and served in the room. The welcome pack includes coffee, tea, sugar, milk, wine, rusks, and biscuits. For meals out, Cibo Italiano Pizzeria and Peperboom Restaurant, Gin & Wine Boutique are about 15 minutes' drive away. Tafeltjie Dek and Peppertree Coffee Bar are also close for coffee and light meals.

The wood-fired hot tub is the main draw; firewood is supplied, and extra wood is available for a small fee. There is also a plunge pool and a games room with darts. Guests can hike, cycle the gravel roads, or walk through the avocado and macadamia nut orchards. The farm runs paid game drives, and guests regularly see buffalo, zebra, impala, and other game near the waterhole.

The farm sits in the Klein Karoo along the Garden Route, about a 30-minute drive from George Airport. Groot-Brakrivier train station is 16 minutes away by car, and Reebok station is 20 minutes. It is roughly half an hour to Botlierskop Private Game Reserve. The last stretch is a 10-minute gravel road, but a normal car handles it. Free parking is available on site.

Guests get private check-in and check-out. A paid airport shuttle can be arranged for pick-up and drop-off at George Airport. Babysitting and child services are available, and family rooms are offered. Breakfast can be served in the room. The hosts send restaurant and shop recommendations by WhatsApp ahead of arrival and can often arrange late check-out. Rooms are non-smoking, and there is a designated smoking area outside. The property uses key access and has fire extinguishers, plus accessible parking.
